The inspiration for Chalice Services goes back to when I was in elementary school. To help pass time during a car trip my father thought I should try to create my own cattle brand. Wanting to use my initials I came up with the chalice. Using a lazy D and upside-down T gives the image of a wine glass and is also similar to the family brand, Box L. After many years of effort we were finally able to get the brand approved by the State of Nebraska Brand Committee in 2008.
Homesteading in 1886, I come from a very long line of ranching. The market is not always your friend and rarely do you get along with Mother Nature but it’s in our blood, it’s what we do. I am proud to say that I, now too, am a rancher.
I grew up in North West Nebraska and attended Scottsbluff High. After claiming two Nebraska State Championships in Girls Golf I got a lot of offers to a variety of schools. However, I always dreamed of going to a Division I school, and with the mountains, at the front door, Boulder was an easy choice. I would not be where I am today had it not been for the 4 years spent on this campus. Having wonderful professors, amazing friends, and discovering who I was is putting it in the simplest of terms.
I have been blessed to get to travel the world starting at a very young age. Since I can remember my family took trips as oppose to buying gifts during the holidays. My first real big trip was a month to China when I was 16. While it was a trying experience, I was immediately addicted. After a long-distance love affair with Russian culture, I began to take courses while at CU Boulder and when I was 20 I studied abroad for a summer in St. Petersburg Russia. After that, I was a traveling monster and every chance I got I went abroad. I have now been to over 45 countries and have no plans on letting up.
